Starting in Metheringham the route follows quiet country lanes gradually ascending to the Lincoln Cliff Top at Navenby (CoOp and Urban Kitchen Cafe and Gelato).

After descending the Lincoln Cliff beside the village church the route heads due west on sleepy lanes with open views all the way to Norton Disney, turning down Butt Lane in Norton Disney the route then passes through Norton Woods and Gravel Pits before arriving in the upmarket new village of Witham St hughes and the charming coffee shop cum bar and restaurant - The Market Lounge.

The return leg heads back east along more quiet roads passing by Bassingham (a short detour to one of the best pubs in the county - The Five Bells, would be a fine lunch stop) and then through Auburn, passing The Royal Oak pub and then up and onto the Lincoln Cliff once more at Coleby Village; the village pub at the top of the climb ‘The Tempest’ would be a great pit-stop on a hot day.

The remainder of the route descends quiet roads on a general downhill trajectory passing through Dunston village before arriving back in Metheringham at the start point.
